We popped to @RNLI Whitstable Lifeboat today for a quick chat about other ways we can help them fundraise. Was lovely to also meet Harriet from @spacemasks who’s been epically spreading the word.

Last year when I visited the zetland arms in kingsdown, they had those little Wilkinson jam jars on each table...you know the ones you get in hotels, tea rooms & restaurants...an RNLI sticker was on each lid & customers could leave any loose silver change in the jars. Customers loved it & I’d say that after each sitting & end of each day they would’ve collected a few £. Could restaurants/pubs in Whitstable do same thing to help raise money towards such an important local cause? I’m sure locals could help collect the jars.

Today is National Potato Day, and what better way to celebrate than with freshly cooked chips.

Frying a chip is a very scientific process would you believe. The potato has to be a certain type (every type of potato creates a different type of chip), and the fat has to be clean and at an optimum temperature.

We've been using the same, local potato supplier since we started in 1962. Let's all celebrate the humble potato.

I have said it here before, but will say it again. I have eaten fish and chips on three continents in I don’t know how many countries; none come close to yours!

Chips on the beach is a must. Only by the time I get to the beach there's normally only about six left! Always delicious!

Love your chips 😋

If you’re coming to visit this weekend, why not park here, avoid the stress of finding a space in town, and support our town’s Christmas celebrations in the process 😍Hi there you lovely lot! We are back fundraising alongside planning the next few months for Whitsparkle. Tomorrow we will be at the Whitstable Junior School car park, so come and park with us for a small donation of your choice! We really do need all the help we can get this year (and we love to meet you all!). Open 8am - 5pm - tell a friend too! ❤️ #whitsparkle #whitstable #tankerton #carpark #donations #smilestoo ... Well, it’s International Cat Day, so we thought we’d introduce you to Marsha. She lives with one of the family and spends her days relaxing, giving death stares, and enjoying the left over offcuts of cod from the shop.

Be down in 10!

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It’s 2020, so obviously it’s not a shock that our internet has decided to go down today 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

So, in a complete turnaround from our lockdown/Covid-19 stance, we will be accepting cash and cheques until BT resolve the problem.

Please be patient with us, it’s been a reasonably stressful day already and it’s only 11.45.

Congratulations.... well deserved. Cannot beat your fish and chips x

Well done - you provide a quality product and service to townsfolk and visitors and deserve the praise and recognition.

The word of the day is ‘scorchio’.

It’s going to be hot and busy in town. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and wear sun screen 😎

If you usually order a Friday delivery or collection, why not prebook to make sure your order is placed.

We’re so proud to be a part of this project. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our pay it forward scheme so far.
If you’d like to donate (even just £1.00) let us know when you place your order. It's been 4 months of such fantastic community and team effort and one we are so pleased to have been a part of co-facilitating alongside Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre and Food Friends.

Over the past four months we have supported 172 beneficiaries, made up of 36 families and 22 individuals. The project in its current form is called 'The Community Dinner Fund Project' and will run until the end of August, whilst the cafe and Centre remain shut to the public.

We are planning and working very hard on reopening for September, whilst also continuing to support our beneficiaries and the wider community of Whitstable. Not forgetting a decent coffee, homemade cake and some delicious freshly cooked lunches of course!

Over August we are going to be COUNTING DOWN and letting you know more about the cafe and our project work - some things will be different and we are looking forward to sharing our plans with you all.

There’s something unique and quirky about Harbour Street. All the buildings and shops have their own personalities and we’re rather proud to sit in the middle of it all.

Here’s another stunning piece of art focussed on our frontage. A very talented artist who has caught the moment perfectly in the mood of Hopper.
